Like a Hallmark Movie: Experience Pepin in the Fall

Experience Pepin, Wisconsin, in its coziest season – a lakeside town wrapped in fall color, comfort, and small-town charm. From steaming lattes and golden lake views to a warm meal and local shopping, Pepin is all about embracing the slower pace of fall and soaking in the magic of lake life when everything feels a little warmer, softer, and more peaceful. Beyond the shoreline and the town, Pepin’s countryside comes alive with beautiful bluffs, golden fields, and farm charm – a leaf peeping drive is an absolute must in the autumn!

Lake Pepin Lattes

Start your morning with the comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee drifting through the crisp fall air. Lake Pepin Lattes is a mobile coffee truck that debuted this summer and is already a local favorite. They have seasonal drink specials like the caramel apple butter latte and – my favorite – the banana bread latte. Grab a hot or cold beverage and enjoy it while you browse around the Pepin Country Stop. Lake Pepin Lattes has the most unique and robust flavor syrups that I’ve ever seen in a coffee shop.

Right next door to Lake Pepin Lattes, the Pepin Country Stop is a staple of this small town. Part café, part market, and part gathering place, it’s where locals grab lunch, travelers browse local goods, and everyone takes a moment to slow down. Stop inside for a fresh bakery treat or step outside to enjoy the view of colorful trees surrounding the property. There’s even a picnic area with string lights and Halloween decorations.

Tin Roof Boutique

After a cozy start, wander over to Tin Roof Boutique, a gem for fall fashion and gifts. The boutique’s warm atmosphere, inviting displays, and curated seasonal styles make it a must-stop for anyone who loves a touch of cozy charm. From soft sweaters and scarves to candles and locally inspired décor, every corner feels like a celebration of the season. The friendly staff and thoughtful details make this shop more than a retail stop – it’s an experience that reflects the creative heart of Pepin. It’s the perfect place to find a keepsake or simply enjoy the beauty of local craftsmanship. Plus they have an amazing selection of puzzles – perfect for cozy fall nights at home.

Evers Farm

A quintessential fall stop, Evers Farm captures the joy of harvest season in every corner. The property overflows with pumpkins, gourds, and colorful displays that make it feel like autumn has come to life. Wander through rows of pumpkins in every shade of orange, take in the scent of hay and leaves, and snap a few photos of the rustic farm setting. It’s the kind of place that makes you nostalgic for childhood pumpkin patch visits and cozy harvest days.

Bearfish Brew

Need another caffeine boost? Or maybe an ice cream or other snack? Head down toward the lake and stop at Bearfish Brew. Once solely a mobile coffee shop in the area and now with a brick and mortar location, their brick and morter shop is a great addition to Pepin’s waterfront. Whether you’re stopping in for a coffee, tea, or a scoop of ice cream, the space feels cheerful and inviting, and the owner greets every guest with a smile.

Villa Bellezza Winery

Step into a slice of Tuscany right in the heart of Pepin. Villa Bellezza’s vine-covered hills and Mediterranean-style piazza glow with golden color in the fall. Sit outside with a glass of local wine and take in the breathtaking mix of harvest hues and crisp air. Fall colors make this winery a photographer’s dream.

Harbor View Cafe

No trip to Pepin is complete without a visit to the beloved Harbor View Café, which pairs delicious, seasonal food with one of the best views in town. Inside, the air is warm with the scent of fresh dishes and the walls are lined with books. Outside the windows, the water sparkles and trees blaze with orange and gold. Whether you’re here for lunch or an early dinner, the café captures the heart of fall in Pepin – comforting, beautiful, and best enjoyed slowly. Take your time, savor your meal, and watch the afternoon light turn the Pepin Marina into a shimmering masterpiece.

Pepin Marina

End your day where the golden light meets the water. The Pepin Marina is peaceful in autumn – boats resting quietly as the sun dips low behind the bluffs. It’s a place to pause and take in everything you experienced throughout the day: the warmth of local coffee, the charm of small shops, the taste of good food, and the serenity of the lake. Lake Pepin is actually a widening of the Mississippi River; it’s 22 miles long and almost 3 miles across at its widest point. And the sunsets on Lake Pepin (from the Wisconsin side) are legendary. As the sun begins to sink, the sky turns shades of orange, pink, and purple, reflecting perfectly on the water’s surface. Watch the shoreline trees glow in the fading light – a breathtaking view that captures the quiet beauty of the season. It’s the kind of sunset moment that stays with you long after you’ve left the water.
